2020 Awardee

Amy Johnson

Amy Johnson is the recipient of the 2020 David M. Schneider Award for her original graduate student essay entitled, “Tharu-Pahadi Bhai-Bhai: Equality, Intimacy, and Exogamy in the New Nepal.” The Schneider award recognizes innovative and fresh approaches to kinship, cultural theory, and American culture. Her paper will be sent to Cultural Anthropology, a journal that David M. Schneider helped to found, to be reviewed for publication. Amy is currently enrolled in the combined PhD Program in Anthropology and Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University.
