My Biography

Tiffany-Ashton Gatsby (they/them) is a QueerCrip, Ashkenazi Jewish parent, artist, and QueerCrip advocate at the University of Washington, pursuing a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology and a graduate certificate in Disability Studies, training as a psychedelic doula. Their research examines QueerCrip medical trauma, psychedelic care, and arts-based methodologies.
Gatsby returned to school after a career in mixed-use management, development, and marketing, after obtaining their GED and proudly graduating from community college before receiving their B.A. with Honors in both Medical Anthropology and Global Health & Interdisciplinary Visual Art, minoring in Diversity from the University of Washington, graduating summa cum laude as the President’s Medal recipient in 2022. Some of their accolades include recognition as a UW Husky 100, UW Homecoming Scholar, Pride Foundation Scholar, Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board Honors Society, Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity, and recipient of the Point Foundation Opportunity Grant.

Gatsby’s volunteer work and community involvement focus on accessibility and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+, disabled, chronically ill, mad, and low-income individuals to healthcare and higher education through peer support, community organizing, campaigning, and fundraising. They currently serve on the Board of the Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness and lead two campus initiatives: Pathways for All Huskies, prioritizing accessible wayfinding, and the QueerCrip Research Collective, an interdisciplinary graduate research cluster for student support and resource sharing.
