My Biography

Jean Meadowcroft (BA University of California, Davis, 1964; MA Indiana University 1972; MA Stanford University 1974; PhD Stanford University 1977) is an expert in international education, development of programs for children’s education, women in development, health,and has a particular interest in bilingual education. Jean has USAID long term work in Bolivia, Nepal and Lesotho, with shorter assignments in Latin America and Africa. After retirement, Jean spent 6 years as a volunteer doing bilingual social work for immigrant and poor families at a local center. In Bolivia and Nepal she became friends with several American university students doing their dissertation research. Earlier, Jean was a teacher and peace corps volunteer. Jean says “my life was much enriched with friends in several countries and I appreciate that.” Jeans first AAA Meeting was in 1974.
