When is Anthropology Day?

Help us celebrate what anthropology is and what it can achieve by hosting an event in your community, on your campus, or in your workplace. Anthropology Day is always held on the third Thursday in February. The 2024 Anthropology Day celebration was held on Thursday, February 15 - learn about the celebration's success.

Join us next year to celebrate on February 20, 2025. Use the hashtag #AnthroDay to get involved on social media.

Matchmaking Program

Every year we offer a matchmaking program for AnthroDay where we partner K-12 schools with anthropologists and anthropology clubs to deliver age-appropriate, interactive presentations in their classrooms. In 2024, we matched 43 schools with anthropologists to help spread the knowledge of anthropology to younger generations.

Plan Your Event

The primary goal of Anthropology Day is to share the wonders of anthropology with the world around us. For that reason, we strongly encourage individuals and groups to plan events that engage the community outside of their own department or club. The Anthropology Day resources page includes some great information to help organize those kinds of events. We have programming tips for campus groups, museums, workplaces, and K-12 teachers as well as a newly updated event toolkit to help participants plan events that share anthropology with a wider audience.

Learn More

We want to express our concern for our members and colleagues in the potentially affected areas as we monitor Hurricane Milton. As we approach our Annual Meeting scheduled for November 20-23, we will keep you updated on any developments and how they may impact our plans in Tampa. In the meantime, we hope everyone stays safe and takes the necessary precautions.
