AAA has signed onto a statement from the International Solidarity for Academic Freedom in India – InSAF India – that denounces the attacks by security forces on India’s Indigenous (Adivasi) people.
These acts violate the Indian Constitution but also infringe upon the fundamental rights and dignity of Adivasi communities. As scholars concerned about indigenous communities, we aim to draw attention to these attacks on Adivasi lives and livelihoods, and advocate for justice for the people whose lives are intertwined with our research and scholarship.
This joint statement has been endorsed by over 80 signatories, including international academics, activists and civil society organizations, as well as diasporic Indian academics and researchers, working with Adivasi (indigenous) communities in India.
