My Biography

Mikel Hogan, PhD. (BA, Anthropology, Cal State University, Long Beach; MA, Anthropology, Cal State University, Long Beach; PhD, Comparative Cultures/Social Science, UC Irvine, 1985) is an Applied Anthropologist, a professor and 17 year chair of the Human Services Department at CSU, Fullerton. Her primary fields of research and practice are applied anthropology in health, education, pedagogy, mixed heritage identity, the intersection of race, ethnic and gender relations, and four skills of cultural diversity competence. Mikel has conducted research in mixed heritage identity, the intersection of race, ethnic and gender relations, and four skills of cultural diversity competence presented in the 4th edition of her book, Four Skills of Cultural Diversity Competence, (2013). Mikel’s first attended the AAA annual meeting in the 1960’s
